The Four Corners Rifle and Pistol Club was founded over fifty years ago. Originally established as the Four Corners Rifle Club it was primarily in support of a junior rifle shooting program. It did not become a Rifle and Pistol club until the late fifties.

Today the club has over 475 members many of whom are involved in both rifle and pistol shooting events held at both the club’s outdoor and indoor ranges. Our outdoor range hosts several different rifle and pistol events throughout the year. Located on two hundred acres just east of Cortez, it contains a three hundred yard rifle range and a twenty five yard pistol range. Both ranges have sheltered shooting benches and target stands are provided. Members have access to the range seven days a week except during regularly scheduled events.
In addition to the rifle and pistol ranges, there are also areas designated for combat/tactical and cowboy action shooting events.

Every year the club hosts an old fashion cook-out that is held under the club’s picnic pavilion in August. This event has become one of the club’s most attended functions with over 100 members enjoying hamburgers, hot dogs and deserts. A new parking lot was recently added to the range providing ample parking for all club events.

During the winter months the club’s indoor range houses several different shooting activities. Our Junior Shooting Program, Winter Pistol League, .22 Shoot off and the women’s defensive shoots are some of the club’s winter activities. The indoor range consists of a fifty foot shooting gallery with nine shooting stations, as well as a class room, rest rooms and storage armory. Both an advanced ventilation system and a well lit target wall make the clubs indoor range a first class facility. The building is located within the city limits of Cortez and is also used for conceal carry classes and local law enforcement training programs.

As a one hundred percent NRA club, we take pride in both supporting and promoting shooting activities within the community as well as the entire four corner region.
